CD PROJEKT RED has released the latest trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, their upcoming open-world, action-adventure RPG. They also announced an all new original anime series coming to Netflix in 2022.
The trailer features new footage showcasing the world, characters, story, and action of Cyberpunk 2077. It gives players a fresh look into the dark future setting that is Night City, and the beginnings of the mercenary career of V — the ambitious, cyber-enhanced outlaw players will be stepping into the shoes of later this year.
*SPOILER WARNING* If you watched the previous Cyberpunk trailers, you’ll recognize the characters here. It looks like an expanded preview of the botched job leading up to our protagonist’s first meeting with a familiar celebrity.
Watch til the end for a surprise!
Following the success of The Witcher series, CD PROJEKT RED partnered with acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger to bring CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS to Netflix.
It tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
The team bringing Cyberpunk’s world to life is led by director Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare). Composer Akira Yamaoka (of Silent Hill series fame) will work on the series’ original score.
The official announcement doesn’t reveal what the anime will look like (bummer!), but it features a brief interview with the Studio Trigger team. What an explosive way to celebrate the studio’s 10th anniversary though! Watch it here:
